salt lake city is so totally ahead of the game.

every october these guys do an interactive haunted house called the castle of chaos. i stumbled upon my first one about three years ago, and made it a priority to be at every subsequent one thereafter and to drag new people along with me. i missed last octobers, but im thinking about road tripping back this fall to make sure i catch the new one.

[slc rules for haunted houses, by the way:
rocky point
nightmare on 13th
haunted corn maze
etc...]

so after hearing all the bad press and nay-saying folks have done about pirates, i’m convinced they just weren’t seeing it in the right atmosphere. i.e., sitting next to a couple of giggle monster girls, in front of a brain surgeon who declares things like “that’s a big heart” and so many fake boobed costa mesa moms you don’t even know what to do with yourself. the movie was fine, it certainly wasn’t rocket science (oohhhh except the girl behind who declared she was lost and didn’t know what was going on) because even a ten year old shouted that they should just kill the kracken. duh. the movie was fun, and more importantly it was fun to make fun of, which are my favorite kinds of movies. people were honestly upset that the movie was designed as a two parter and ends with a cliffhanger. wtf america? does the lack of closure for pirates really spell so much certain doom in your lives? it just means that in 2 years you are awarded once again the pleasure of cracking gay pirate jokes in the theater. yay!
