NEW Pirates of The Caribbean
Last week I went to Disneyland. I haven’t been their in a really long time, so I was excited to ride Pirates of The Caribbean. Knowing that they updated the ride to coincide with the movie I was skeptical. However, I was surprised to see how much did stay the same. The new additions didn’t ruin the ride but I don’t think it made it any better. I think the only cool thing that the did do was to add the Davie Jones waterfall that you pass through. That was pretty cool.
I found this video on youTube.com, it’s Johnny Depp riding the new ride. At one point Johnny gets out of the boat and is looking at the Jack Sparrow animatronics figure. They did a really good job with the body language and movements. If you haven’t ridden the new POTC ride this video doesn’t spoil the ride. Its just showing a few new things and Johnny talking with his shitty accent.

Pirates of the carribean is dead to me.
#1 you know how you get a little wet from the drops? this motherfucker was like tidal wave. I was soaked head to toe. I fear amusement park water like nothing else. specifically pirates of the carribean water.
#2 that davey jones shit, while an amazing effect made the kids in the row behind me scream, cry and try to climb out of the boat.
#3 how fing lame is the johnny deep stuff? please the quality of his animatronic doesnt even match the rest of the ride.
The addition of davey jones talking to you at the end was awesome and the waterfall was cool even though children would rather commit suicide than face it. but fuck POC. it is dead to me
Kelly you bring up some really good points. Amusement park water IS fucking nasty (although I have never seen anyone soaked on that ride in my life), children screaming, crying or breathing just plain suck and your right about the animatronic’s not matching that kinda blows. But, I’m really just stoked that the ride wasn’t changed all around. Its basically the same as I remember it when I was a kid.
I think you need to give POC one more chance. Don’t let it die.
POC will always be a place to get of the sun for 30 mins. All you need to do is ask people at the blue bayou for their bread. Often they will toss some out to you. I just hope that Disnyland will return to the days it created original stuff, and not crap based on their other crap. Disneyland has a soft spot in my heart, and I like that it adapts, if it were to stay the same forever it would lose its appeal to younger people over time.
