Banksy Hits Disneyland

Banksy is in town so you know what that means. Last week he placed a life-sized replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride in Disneyland (Anaheim, Ca.). The replica remained in place for 90 minutes before the ride was closed down and the figure removed.
A spokeswoman for Banksy said the stunt was intended to highlight the plight of terror suspects at the controversial detention centre in Cuba.
Banksy has an art opening this weekend at an undisclosed location. The location will be announced the day of the event on his site. www.Banksy.co.uk

so, for the past six months this 3-cd box set of b-sides, rare stuff, live takes and remixes has been anxiously awaited by me. and then this weekend i got my hands on it. a beautiful box, booklet, 3 music cd’s and a dvd of videos and live performances. the 33 tracks are almost overwhelming, if not for the fact that the material itself it all very different, but all very “tortoise”. what is really amazing, and quite a surprise, is how great the sound quality is. it’s like they built new technology to make something sound so good it made you want to beat yourself silly. i swear it’s like having the power of a tiny sun in your pocket once this little guy is loaded into your ipod. i can’t really think of a better way to spend $18.99 (except for a quick one at starbucks 500 years from now). so if you were ever into this band, or you are into music that makes you feel like your nuts are ethereal beings, you really fucking need to go pick this up.
