Banksy Hits Disneyland

Banksy is in town so you know what that means. Last week he placed a life-sized replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride in Disneyland (Anaheim, Ca.). The replica remained in place for 90 minutes before the ride was closed down and the figure removed.

A spokeswoman for Banksy said the stunt was intended to highlight the plight of terror suspects at the controversial detention centre in Cuba.

Banksy has an art opening this weekend at an undisclosed location. The location will be announced the day of the event on his site. www.Banksy.co.uk

beijing XXlX Olympictograms

With under 2 years left the Beijing Organizing Committee OK’ed the Olympictograms. Considering I’m a graphic artist I always check out the graphic work for the Olympics. I’m glad they are going in this kinda rounded, bendy pipe like drawings. It a really cool modern design. Usually the drawings look too reminiscent to cave (man) drawings. I’m just hoping they dont poop up the rest of the art work.

9.11 Press for Truth

Walking into work today, someone asked me if I could duplicate a DVD for them. I said sure, and didn’t even really look to what it was. I watched the DVD, it was a very non conspiracy theory film, but skillfully used the media news clips and news paper articles to connect the dots to how The Bush Administration was connected to Bin Ladin and how they tried to cover it up, and how the cover up seems to still be working. I was going to tell you to come get a DVD from me, but Google makes it much easier. I urge you to watch this film, it is very well made and lays it all out in a time line manner as to all the warning signs that this was going to happen, and how everyone in office was aware. It also shows how Bin Ladin escaped, we flew him to safty. Check it out, and download it and pass it along.

If your computer is too slow, and you know me, I have extra copies now.

Link to film. 1hr 24mins

tortoise - a lazarus taxon

so, for the past six months this 3-cd box set of b-sides, rare stuff, live takes and remixes has been anxiously awaited by me. and then this weekend i got my hands on it. a beautiful box, booklet, 3 music cd’s and a dvd of videos and live performances. the 33 tracks are almost overwhelming, if not for the fact that the material itself it all very different, but all very “tortoise”. what is really amazing, and quite a surprise, is how great the sound quality is. it’s like they built new technology to make something sound so good it made you want to beat yourself silly. i swear it’s like having the power of a tiny sun in your pocket once this little guy is loaded into your ipod. i can’t really think of a better way to spend $18.99 (except for a quick one at starbucks 500 years from now). so if you were ever into this band, or you are into music that makes you feel like your nuts are ethereal beings, you really fucking need to go pick this up.

Hitler Bad, Ice cream Good?

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that brighten your day.

Last week Joe Escalante on his radio show on indie103.1 was talking about his band the Vandals and how their Album, Hitler Bad, Vandals Good was banned in Japan unless they changed the title. So, the band not caring about changing the title at all simply changed it to ICE CREAM TREAT INSIDE. That made me giggle, and still a week later, it brightens my day. I’m not even a huge Vandals fan, but still have smile on my face.

Only this time, he is getting the Crocs Crunked.

Soon after the horrific death of Steve Irwin Tucker, who most know him by his golden hair and man eating looks, has taken up the path to making crocs happy. He recently got an above ground pool in his backyard, and the cops are coming over at midnight to see what all the fuss is about. I salute you Tucker for being man enough to keep the legacy rolling.

Hulk Hogan’s Car Catches Fire

Hulk Hogan’s Lamborghini’s Diablo VT went up in flames. Rumor has it that his Son Nick was driving it at the time. No word how the accident started, but I’m willing to bet that some where Hillbilly Jim, The Junk Yard Dog and the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase have something to do with it

No news regarding Hogan’s career or dignity going up in flames
