Loving LA - The Brown Derby

THE BROWN DERBY

There is a lot of history with the Brown Derby in Los Angeles. The first one was on Wilshire and Alexandria in Korea Town across the street from the old Ambassador Hotel and next door to the H.M.S. Bounty in the Gaylord building.

This old resturant was world famous back in the golden era of hollywood but now they have turned it into a strip mall. Up on top is a dome that looks like the original Derby hat. It is a sad replica. There isn’t much to talk about in the strip mall but there is an amazing Japanese Arcade.

There is nothing in there that is from American Arcades. Lots of fun stuff, the best thing in there was the video game where you are babies and they fight each other, or get thrown into water with a ball and chain around your ankle and you have to smash buttons to get them to swim to get air. It was a great game and super creepy. The plaza was really empty and well worth going to.
