300

the big screen graphic novel adaptation should go down in history as the first of a new genre, the homoerotic thriller. never have so many cut dudes spent so much screen time getting sweaty. we were one divine shower of baby oil away from a full on orgy, which only could have made me love it more. i haven’t read the graphic novel (isn’t that like reading a picture book?) so i can’t speak to the accuracy as far as that goes, and historically, yeah, Pleates did lead 300 Spartans against the Persians. What you may not have know is that Persia is a fucked up land of giants and Todd McFarland style monsters. Visually, the entire two hours are amazing. Story, not offesive but not exactly captivating.  Ass kicking? Oh yeah, there’s a ton of that. I say it’s highly worth seeing if you can get over all the computer animated blood that squirts out of the Persians, but never lands on the soil.

Oh yeah and Robonaut, elephants and rhinos are no match for Spartans.

I would see it again, only if i get to go back to the pine street theater in long beach where the two 10 year olds behind us would tell everyone out loud what the characters were going to say, and then in case we didn’t get it, would yell the lines from the preview along with the characters, and then talk about how rad it was when the characters said whatever it was they had said. i LOVE long beach.
