san francisco has a green city campaign that for the most part is pretty rad. apparently we are one mayoral signature away from outlawing traditional plastic bags. i think it’s pretty awesome, even if highly inconvenient for the grocery store chains. Â
This is so sweet. I hope my store does this!
god, we are so gay for the environment it’s retarded.
the only problem is that its not outlawing it from all stores, only major retail/grocery stores.

Well there would be virtually no way to enforce this law if it included all the tiny independently owned liquor stores, but the amount of plastic they give away is nominal compared to the big grocery chains. this is a step in teh right direction, but it still has problems. even “bio” bags use chemicals to treat materials that are far from good, and paper bags are just as bad. in fact, they are only chosing plastic bags as a means to reduce oil consumption, not because they are against them environmentally. The process of treating wood for paper bags, let alone the cutting down of trees is every bit a bio-tastrophe. The best thing to do would be to get one of those cloth or canvas re-usable grocery bags.
Now, does it show up in your poo after you eat it?
