I love to get on my bike and ride to local places. But I’m so far from most of my destinations, I usually end up driving. I found a web site that rates the walk-ability of your neighborhood. The site give it a score based on the distance to your local stores from your house.
My house rated 33 out of 100. The site will also show you a list of local stores, markets and bars that are in your walking distance. I’m 1.43 miles away from a bar called “Poor Richards Cock”.

wow! i live in what’s considered to be a really “out there” neighborhood in sf (meaning people think it’s far away from a lot of stuff), but the good old sunset district still rated a 63! yay.
i got an 83 (considered VERY walkable), but that’s cause i live next to the “best market”. it’s fun to sing “you’re the best, market…why you gotta close at 10 o’clock” to the tune of the karate kid theme everytime i pass by it.
i scored 76 which seems about right. i live pretty damn close to everything. mmmmmmm…slow club!
good ol’ reseda scored me a 68.
