Weekend at Bernie’s
This late-1980s classic finds co-workers Larry (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard (Jonathan Silverman) spending a weekend at the beach house of their boss, Bernie (Terry Kiser), who’s secretly planning to kill the duo because they’ve uncovered an accounting error at the company. But when the boys arrive, Bernie’s already been whacked, and hilarity ensues as Larry and Richard try to keep his death a secret so that they won’t be considered suspects.
I really loved it when I was younger. No idea if it still holds up today.
So my girlfriend is 24. I’m 35. I know that’s weird. It’s even more weird when we talk about the 80s. Without getting into it LCD style I want to take a sec to point out that a lot of kids today dress 80’s style. They go as far as to talk about it as if they know what it was like. If you’re into Duran Duran hats and pop style clothing that you think is from the 80s this is a great movie to rent. This is what the 80s were really like. Super shitty clothes that did their best to defy every curve on a womans body and huge hair. Huge. So when you “remember” the 80’s remember this movie.
this is bumps (too lazy to sign in). robonaut, i give you the biggest high 5 ever. fuck the body concious “new 80s” the real 80s were jeans that give you a pancake ass, shoulder pads that make you look like the fridge and a fucked up dumb ass splatter painted cap. I want the mom afro.
The following is what i remember about the 80s:
#1 being really confused about the 50s and thinking that time period was happeneing concurrent with the one i was in.
#2 my mother wearing the most unflattering shoulder padded dashikis (she is not from nor has she ever visited africa)
#3 skirts that start under the boobs and end mid-cankle. In fact, cankles period.
