Hairspray: Left, John Trovolta and Right, Nikki Blonsky

There are a few reason why I leave the movie reviews up to Madex. 1. I don’t watch movies that often. 2. When I do watch moves I’m always the last one to see it. Since Madex never finished his review of this movie I thought I would.

This weekend my wife and I were in Palm Springs, and what better way to beat the heat then in a movie. Here is the play by play: I walked up to the booth with my money in hand, “2 tickets for Hairspray” I eagerly asked. “Really?…. I thought you were going to ask for superbad” says the 900 year old Mexican lizard woman behind the glass.

We Find 2 perfect seats, movie starts and the magic begins. Let me repeat…. THE MAGIC BEGINS! Singing, dancing and comedy all over the screen. The songs were really good and they didn’t get annoying. I even found myself humming them as they were singing (only once)! However, I did laugh, jump and scream in my seat at all the jokes. I looked like I was an audience member at the Apollo.

If you get a chance you should see this movie, it’s fun and entertaining. It was like Grease meets High School Musical 2. Yes, I did watch and like High School Musical 2. I’m going to leave the official ratings up to Madex but I give it 4 out of 5.

Peter Parker = Rick Hunter?

Never did I imagine that the suckfest of Hollywood rip-offery would hit me where it hurts like it has today. Tobe McGuire has signed on to produce, and star in the lead role of a ROBOTECH live action film. I can’t even imagine. It is already uncomfortable enough having to listen to people tell me how “amazing” the Spider Man movies were. I will say this though, if ever there were three characters in the world that could make a bad guy curl up and die of boredom and embarrassment after listening to these people whine and carry on, it would be Luke Skywalker, Peter Parker and Rick Hunter. Way to go Tobe, you put your stamp of pussy on 2 of the 3 greats. First you filled up a trilogy crying about your grandma and snaggletooth, and now you are gonna boo-hoo your way back and forth from Minmae to Lisa Hayes.

Le sigh. Ok so it’s inevitable and I will go and see it anyways, in fact i am already giddy and giggitty. So, let’s talk speculation. Who do you think will play:

Lisa Hayes

Roy Fokker

Minmei

Captain Gloval

So I was looking up Fabio on Wikipedia today, when I was reminded of this gem:

While riding the inaugural ride of Apollo’s Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, a stray goose flew into his face during the 210-foot drop. The bird was killed; Fabio luckily got away with only a one-inch cut.

Aaaaaaah, classic!! What are you gonna do, eh?
