I Love Hawks

Today, I volunteered my yard to releases a Red Shouldered Hawk. A friend of mine works at the South Bay Wildlife Rehab. I Always offer up my property to them to release their wildlife, it’s a win win situation. This saves them the time of filing for a city permit (it’s legal to release on private property up to 1 mile from a park) and I get to see nature up close and personal. The last release was a Barn Owl seen here.
This Red Shuldered Hawk was a female, she was stressing out in her cage. She was clawing and bitting wanting to get free. Once released she flew away and circled my house for a bit, then landed on a telephone pole. She sat on the pole for about 10 mins then finally few away to find her other hawk friends and start a new life.
These birds are pretty cool and I’m sure Beard could tell you more about them then I could. But I found this site All About Birds and it has some cool and interesting facts about the Red Shouldered Hawks, even has some sound you can hear them in the wild.
