I wonder if they sell these at any of the obnoxious pet boutiques in town.

i recently moved to a new part of town and am going to be registering to vote in my current district/area. in addition this year is a big election year. with so much going on in the world and so much at stake with our country i felt like it was time i started to get a little more informed about the current presidential candidates. glassbooth.org is a non profit website that tries to help inform people about how their views stack up against the current candidates for the 2008 election. it starts off with a simple selection of issues and you weigh in on which issues are important to you. next it asks you specific questions on those issues and gives you the option to agree or oppose those statements. it then calculates the sample and pairs you with a candidate that most closely shares your views. its not to be taken as fact but it is a nice place to start to figure out some stuff. all the issues are backed up by public quotes and or videos of the candidate speaking and where they stand on the issue. its probably no surprise to anyone who has read this blog that my vies are pretty liberal but i was surprised to who’s views i actually lined up with most. take it for what its wort, the list of questions is not extensive and they don’t get to detailed on the issues but like i said before its a good place to start. they state that they are are non partisan, nonbaias and incourage people to cross-reference their facts.

Director Shawn Bannon shot the fires in griffith park this past year with 7 time lapse cameras and got his film into Sundance.

Interestingly enough, Shawn shot a picture of Moose and I on the set of Director Sarah Harron’s workout video Naughty Bodies Be good Vol. 1 in Griffith park before the fires in a place that has sadly burned down.

David Lynch iPhone

If it wasn’t for the iPhone I never would’ve tried to watch his painful 3hr movie Inland Empire..

The iPhone changed my life while traveling, I watched 4 movies with my iPhone while flying back and forth this year.

I picked up this cool AV adapter, it turns my iPhone into a digital player so I can still experience a movie in its full entirety - on a digital projector at home.

Butt Rocket

Seeing Brent this past weekend made me miss the Geekamerica.com days. I used to do a feature on there called, The Madex Challenge and I would take a picture of me doing anything anyone asked. It was fun, it was a great way to procrastinate in college. I was asked to shoot a firework out my butt while wearing a g string, so I did. In this video you can see me, looking thinner then I do now, You can see Slowgun being a little girl and hear Ktlau behind the camera. Enjoy my stupid youth.

Homeless Happenings

Posted by bumps in whateves on January 4th, 2008 @ 12:27 pm

I’d like to propose a new sub-section of whateves on behalf of myself and psmynameisphil. Phil and I both have an above average number of crazy encounters with the homeless during the work day (Phil in Long Beach, me in Glendale) so much so that Phil keeps tabs on their locations. Phil is Long Beach’s homeless anthropologist, I just look like I like to give people money. For you enjoyment, file this under “only in LA”:

20 minutes ago I was walking to Starbucks in the rain (I usually go to 7/11 for coffee but I’m not dressed for rain and the 7-11 is far away) and I encountered a total crazy birdlady. She may or may not have been homeless but she had the familiar twinkle of crazy in her eye. She asked if I had any money and I said that “yes,” I did, “but can I get you on the way back, I’m comming back this way” her response was the single greatest exchange I have had the entire time I have lived in Los Angeles (ie 27 and 1/2 years).
“Are you going to the Japanese place?”
“no, Im going to Starbucks, would you like a muffin?”
“NO! I WANT SUSHI!”

Only in LA, folks. Only. In. LA.

The Magic Castle

Posted by patBenatard in entertainment, whateves on January 4th, 2008 @ 12:25 pm

A few of us will be visiting The Magic Castle in Hollywood this Saturday under a very special birthday invite. I’m really looking forward to visiting the castle this weekend, even though Bill Nye shattered my small belief of real magic in the clip below.

I was expecting to see some magical phenomena appear before my eyes at the castle and truly believe in the real mystical powers of magic, but thanks to Bill Nye the Science Guy and Grandpa Balls the illusionist(Old Jerry Andress), I now know the truth about magic and it’s just a bunch of fantasy hoopla. It will fill your children’s minds with false hope, it’s as real as unicorns and gnomes(yes, phony). Watch this Bill Nye clip to get the facts of magic… Together they will unfold the art of witchcraft.

Featured tricks: Trizone Space Warper - this contraption will fuck your mind and lead you to believe you can boil clouds with your eyes. The Box of impossible: This box is the wooden box of impossible dreams of one day truly developing the power of walking through walls. Don’t forget about the ol’ bending pole through the two giant nuts trick, Jerry really knows how to handle his. Enjoy!

The Office - How does your compare?

Posted by madex in design, whateves on January 4th, 2008 @ 11:36 am

Being unemployed my new desk is my bed, where I am currently laying.

But I came across some interesting offices today on the internet’s. I usually work in creative environments, as in the people I am around, but never have I worked in a “fun” looking place. Where they try to trick everyone that everyone is having fun in the work place.

A friend of mine at the Obey HQ sent this over to me, if your thinking about going you should try to go Friday. Most taggers, wannabe rebels and “fashion” dudes either A) Don’t get up before 11am. B) Are still in High School at this time. or C) Are working stiffs.

I have gone the last few sales and usually have found something that I have added to my wardrobe. Also, if you want your house to match your clothes then head over to The Marry Karnowsky Gallery for the Imperfect Union show. Once there you will find new work by Shepard Fairey.
