I have now seen this movie 2x’s, both of which were unfortunately at home on dvd. I REALLY REALLY need to see this on the big screen though. It’s definitely worthy of a best picture Oscar.

i think one point is to expose the absurdity and brutality of greed and the American sense of Manifest Destiny and to show how it substantiates in more ways than we usually think about. oh another point is the f’n soundtrack.

i agree that the soundtrack made it.

i liked it while i was watching it, but after thinking about it, wasn’t it a bit much to have an oil baron threaten to cut peoples throats in their sleep during a business movie? i mean i love me some daniel day lewis crazy dude, but at times it seemed forced in this movie and a throwback to bill the butcher.

no country is still my favorite movie of last year but there will be blood might be one of the 5 finest films I have ever seen. There is no end to my hatred of pt anderson but I’ll be dammed if this wasn’t an excellent old style epic. this was ben hur for the double 00s. if I ever see day lewis on the street and I am holding a milkshake, I will set it on the ground in front of him and back away slowly so he has time to get out his giant straw and drink it up.
