Please Excuse My Muppet Boner
Last night I attended a Jim Henson program at the Famous Silent Theater on Fairfax with Julie, Tarasaidthat, and Patbenatard. The Program was a bunch of commercials and other experimental films that Jim Henson did in the 60’s. The night was amazing, the pre show they showed the pilot for Sesame Street where oscar the grouch was orange, and big bird looked like a crack addict, they also showed us where milk comes from set to a freaky folk song and farmers shooting cow milk from the utter into a kids mouth. It was awesome. But the show was full of things I’ve never seen, it was really interesting to see how the Muppets inc. got their start in advertising. I love how un- Politically Correct the commercials are and how kinetic his experimental films are, almost a glimpse into his mind on how his gears work. The films are mostly free association with free form visuals and editing. Here is his film called, Time Piece, please enjoy.

I can’t find it, but there was a commercial for bacon that was a woman dancing in the desert at sunrise that made me cry it was so funny, I’m still looking for it.
