Peace Turns 50

peace turnes 50

BBC just posted an interesting article about the peace symbol. Something I didn’t know. The peace symbol originally was as the emblem for the British anti-nuclear movement. Then later the US adopted this emblem in the 60’s and 70’s during The civil rights movements, anti-Vietnam protest and woman and gay-rights movements.

The emblem actually had a lot of thought put into it. You can see above how the semaphore (flag-signaler) is morphing the 2 letters N & D to make one. N & D standing for Nuclear Disarmament. The designer Gerald Holtom later explained that the design was “to mean a human being in despair” with arms outstretched downwards.

*UPDATE* Chow Mix Dog To A Good Home PLEASE HELP

chow chow to a good home

This is an update to my original post “Chow Mix Dog To A Good Home PLEASE HELP”.

Saturday my wife and I went to the Long Beach Animal Control where we released the above pictured Chow Mix to the city, this was the day they (LB Animal Control) evaluated him and decided if he would be a candidate for adoption. If yes, they transfer him to the Society Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCALA) building next door. The SPCALA told me they did NOT pick him for adoption. They said he was agitated when they tried to muzzle him. To be honest… I don’t know one dog that is OK with being muzzled by strangers.

So, I asked to see him so I could check up on him. He is now sharing a kennel with a mangy grouchy dog that grows. I asked one of the employees about the Chows temperament. He replied with “that dog is nice and sweet”. So we called the Chow rescue organization we have been working with to help us get him out as a “rescued dog” adopting was out of the question. Something I didn’t realize is that you have to be an approved animal rescue organization with the city in order to rescue an animal. The group we were working with was not on the approved list. However, with a few quick phone calls we found a group that was willing to help; but not able to make it to Animal Control until later in the week.

We were given an extension until this Wednesday 3/26 with this Chow. They told us “we have their word” they would not put him down until Wednesday. So fingers crossed we can get an approved rescue in to save him. Once he is out he will be neutered and will have all his shots.

Thanks for everyone that contacted me regarding the little guy he is going to make a family really happy. If anyone would like to adopt him once we rescue him please comment to this post with your email (your email wont be publicly seen) and I can send you any info you may need.
I will post an update when I have more info.

HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT ON DVD!

Posted by therealsimon in whateves on March 24th, 2008 @ 1:48 pm

The best documentary of white trash rednecks ever is now available on DVD! It’s only been abvailable on crappy VHS bootlegs up till now.

See the magic of the parking lot of a 1986 Judas Priest concert where the fans gather to get f’ed up before the show. 1,000’s of in-bred fans who had no idea that the lead singer of their fav band was a big old homo. One girl with big hair said that if she met Rob Halford she’d “jump his bones!”

If you havn’t seen this…you must…and if you have seen it you can now see it on DVD again and again.

Watch Preview Clip for a taste of the parking lot action!

horses are not toys.

Animals are not toys. Animals are not toys. Animals are not toys. If you try and lay down next to a horse it will get scared, kick you in the chest and you will die. Animals are not toys.

George Lopez On Nick At Night

george lopez

For some reason I can’t get enough of the George Lopez show. I started watching it by accident during at vacation on a TV that only received a few channels. Every night my wife and I tune in to Nick at Night and laugh at all the antics he gets in to. The show mainly revolves around the misadventures of George Lopez at the factory, his adventures and his relationship with his mother, wife, father in law, friends, and his children.

One fact that I didn’t know was: after a couple years of performing stand-up comedy, Lopez was approached by actress Sandra Bullock to produce and star in a comedy. Bullock was concerned about the lack of Hispanic-oriented sitcoms on American television and pushed to get a sitcom on television that starred Hispanics but wasn’t exclusively about the Hispanic American community.

Tune in to Nick at Night Every night to watch the George Lopez show.
