Whateves.com is switching over its server.

Posted by madex in whateves on March 25th, 2008 @ 9:45 am

The last month we has been plagued with horrible server issues. I just read that our server company is switching over files that may cause our site to crash. The full move will take place on March 28th, where our site may be down during the day, but after March 28th, our site shouldn’t be affected by the shitty internet crashes. Thanks.

Peace Turns 50

peace turnes 50

BBC just posted an interesting article about the peace symbol. Something I didn’t know. The peace symbol originally was as the emblem for the British anti-nuclear movement. Then later the US adopted this emblem in the 60’s and 70’s during The civil rights movements, anti-Vietnam protest and woman and gay-rights movements.

The emblem actually had a lot of thought put into it. You can see above how the semaphore (flag-signaler) is morphing the 2 letters N & D to make one. N & D standing for Nuclear Disarmament. The designer Gerald Holtom later explained that the design was “to mean a human being in despair” with arms outstretched downwards.

*UPDATE* Chow Mix Dog To A Good Home PLEASE HELP

chow chow to a good home

This is an update to my original post “Chow Mix Dog To A Good Home PLEASE HELP”.

Saturday my wife and I went to the Long Beach Animal Control where we released the above pictured Chow Mix to the city, this was the day they (LB Animal Control) evaluated him and decided if he would be a candidate for adoption. If yes, they transfer him to the Society Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCALA) building next door. The SPCALA told me they did NOT pick him for adoption. They said he was agitated when they tried to muzzle him. To be honest… I don’t know one dog that is OK with being muzzled by strangers.

So, I asked to see him so I could check up on him. He is now sharing a kennel with a mangy grouchy dog that grows. I asked one of the employees about the Chows temperament. He replied with “that dog is nice and sweet”. So we called the Chow rescue organization we have been working with to help us get him out as a “rescued dog” adopting was out of the question. Something I didn’t realize is that you have to be an approved animal rescue organization with the city in order to rescue an animal. The group we were working with was not on the approved list. However, with a few quick phone calls we found a group that was willing to help; but not able to make it to Animal Control until later in the week.

We were given an extension until this Wednesday 3/26 with this Chow. They told us “we have their word” they would not put him down until Wednesday. So fingers crossed we can get an approved rescue in to save him. Once he is out he will be neutered and will have all his shots.

Thanks for everyone that contacted me regarding the little guy he is going to make a family really happy. If anyone would like to adopt him once we rescue him please comment to this post with your email (your email wont be publicly seen) and I can send you any info you may need.
I will post an update when I have more info.

HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT ON DVD!

Posted by therealsimon in whateves on March 24th, 2008 @ 1:48 pm

The best documentary of white trash rednecks ever is now available on DVD! It’s only been abvailable on crappy VHS bootlegs up till now.

See the magic of the parking lot of a 1986 Judas Priest concert where the fans gather to get f’ed up before the show. 1,000’s of in-bred fans who had no idea that the lead singer of their fav band was a big old homo. One girl with big hair said that if she met Rob Halford she’d “jump his bones!”

If you havn’t seen this…you must…and if you have seen it you can now see it on DVD again and again.

Watch Preview Clip for a taste of the parking lot action!

George Lopez On Nick At Night

george lopez

For some reason I can’t get enough of the George Lopez show. I started watching it by accident during at vacation on a TV that only received a few channels. Every night my wife and I tune in to Nick at Night and laugh at all the antics he gets in to. The show mainly revolves around the misadventures of George Lopez at the factory, his adventures and his relationship with his mother, wife, father in law, friends, and his children.

One fact that I didn’t know was: after a couple years of performing stand-up comedy, Lopez was approached by actress Sandra Bullock to produce and star in a comedy. Bullock was concerned about the lack of Hispanic-oriented sitcoms on American television and pushed to get a sitcom on television that starred Hispanics but wasn’t exclusively about the Hispanic American community.

Tune in to Nick at Night Every night to watch the George Lopez show.

Chow Mix adopt PLEASE HELP

I found This Chow dog last Saturday 3/15 walking alone with out tags in Long Beach, Ca on Los Coyotes Diagonal between Spring St. and Willow St. I have posted dozens of flyer and spoke with many dog owners that live in the area, no one seems to recognize this dog. I finally took him to the Long Beach Animal Shelter thinking this is the one place everyone looks when they loose their pet. However, If no one claims him or adopts him by 3/22 he will be put down.

This Chow is very sweet, mellow and would make a great pet (I would take him in myself but I already have too many pets as it is). Please pass this link around to anyone you think can help. It breaks my heart to think this Chow could be euthanized b/c of some owners neglect.

If you are interested in adopting this Chow please follow the following steps:
1. Reply to this post in the comment field.
2. Fill in your email address so I can contact you (your email will NOT be published to the public, I can see it on the admin side).
3. I will reply to the email address you provide with the necessary information.

Some extra info:
Male, 2ish years old, tan in color and looks like he could be a mixed with a Retriever.

All this talk about abortions is making me super wet.

The Real World Turns 20, Reminding me why I need to buy a Taser Gun?

Posted by madex in Idiocracy, tv, whateves on March 20th, 2008 @ 12:36 pm

When I was 10 I used to religiously watch MTV’s The Real World, season one in New York, was amazing it was full of promising futures, fish out of water types hit with big city gays and racial discussions. The Dumb models would try to rap with Fat bitch ass rappers, a Hippy would try to start a grundge band and attempt to sleep with a Bar tender loser chick, and a young black writer would get loud, but never physical.

I was glued to the show for the next few seasons, RW Los Angeles was a riot with Tammy (wasn’t it not funny) and Beth, and the first roommate eviction then new Lesbian Beth. The show then graduated on to the most memorable season to me The Real World San Fransisco, which no one can put their finger in the peanut butter without hearing Pedro in their heads.

What that show had then was “Characters”, real people: cartoonist, docotors, LA cops, Bicycle messangers, fat girls, actresses, country singers, it seems after the fruitful years of the social experiment things started to go down hill. That hill has turned in to cliffs and now is on its way to full on drop off.

I used to gauge my life in a few ways:1. Too young to be on the Real World, 2. Old enough to be on the Real World, 3. Too old to be on the Real World and finally, 4. I need to get a teaser gun cause the Real World is taping in my city.

I stopped watching after the New Orleans season, which to me is still the best season they every had, it was what prompted me to actually send in a tape to be on the Real World, but thankfully, I wasn’t accepted cause they have all sucked since, sure I might be too old for The Real World now, but, with the success of the fat girl pan banging on The Bad Girls Club, that is all people are looking for these days, drunk fights, party lesbians and walking valtrex commerials.

If your looking for the most intersting peoploe in a city, you don’t go to the wanna be celebrity bars to cast your show, you dig a little deeper to people who have a future and are working for something other then fame and anal wart removal.

I give you now, the preview to the new seaon of the Real World AKA the reason why we should all stop having babies.
