A Committing Suicide Alternative: A Guide to Social Suicide.

(photo found on flickr - She seems happy, maybe she committed social suicide)

Sadly recently I’ve had three estranged friends from my past commit suicide. All were people I wouldn’t expect to take that step. The events affected me in a weird way, so I can imagine what it did to their loved near and dear. Suicide is so permanent, so I’d like to offer an alternative to anyone out there looking to end their life. You can still end your life you are living now, but you can start a new one here on earth without killing yourself.
This is my advice, commit Social Suicide instead. You’re already in the mood to do something drastic, so give it a chance.
I know someone who has done this a few times, and let me tell you she is one happy lady now.

  • First, Move. - Don’t tell anyone, just fucking move, move over the weekend, in the middle of the night, just move. You have to move to get away from friends, family, boss’s, Girlfriends, Boyfriends, hopefully not pets. Take your pets. Its best to leave the state. Big cities are nice to escape to, mountains can be calming, stay away from places that are like where you are escaping from. If you have drug habits, move where you can’t find them, you have gambling problems, move where they don’t have gambling, etc.
  • Second, Change your name - Its easy to do, this will not save you from debt, or child support, but it will give you a new breath of fresh air, anyone new you meet will never know about the OLD YOU.
  • Third, Become whomever you want. - You hated who you were before, so change, the slate is clean, the city is new, take the huge steps that you needed to take. Get a new wardrobe, throw out the old clothes and start a new.
  • Fourth, Alert that you are alive. - After 6 months to a year send out postcards to the search party (friends, family, co workers) and let them know that you are alive and happy in the world. Don’t include your personal info, you don’t want to keep contact, you just want to ease the ones you left behind.
  • Five, Be positive, nothing is really that bad in the world. Shit is temporary, things pass, why not cope without judgments in new surroundings, new hobbies, new air, when you get to a new city start over, if you fuck up again, move.

The glory of social suicide is, you can do however many times you need to. I’ve never done it myself, but I like the idea of it for other people who are struggling. If things are tough, pack your bags, give it a shot, its never too late to start over, its never to late to have a good childhood, its never too late to find happiness. MOVE.

NOTE: I do not recommend this for people who are running from the law, if you fucked up according to the law, then the law will find you eventually, and social suicide isn’t for you.

Last night was the season opening home game at the Home Depot Center for the Los Angeles Galaxy. They played host to the San Jose Earthquakes. The HDC get more greedy with every passing season. Now parking is up to $30 (keep in mind my tickets were $44) if you want to park anywhere remotely close. The only other option is to park on the other side of the CSUDH campus for $15… and this still took us 45 minutes to get INTO the parking lot.

But the night wasn’t a total bust. Beckham scored his first goal of the 08/09 season. Hes now playing on the front line with Donovan. I guess they want him to be a striker now and not a mid fielder. Donovan later followed with a goal of his own to give the LA Galaxy a 2-0 victory.

After the show the HDC had a fire work show. It was pretty cool, we ended up walking to the LA Riot Squad section for a better view of the fireworks. I didn’t realize how many sharps and UK punks were into LA Soccer!

Anyway in conclusion the game was awesome, my seats were awesome and the fireworks were awesome. The parking wait was lame, the parking fee was lame… and the Chivas USA still suck.
