Robbins of Baskin-Robbins is DEAD!

It’s a sad day as one of the geniuses behind Baskin-Robbins, Irvine Robbins, has died. I grew up with their ice cream and loved it above all others. I loved that there were so many flavors and that they were so tasty…this is back in the 80’s when the only other competitior in my hood was Dairy Queen (which also holds a special place in my heart…no one does soft serve ice cream like Dairy Queen).

Baskin-Robbins were the first to create unusual ice-cream flavors beyond the usual flavors and Robbins was the man behind them…he created and introduced us to…
Baseball Nut - for when the Dodgers came to Los Angeles in 1958
Lunar Cheesecake - for when the first man landed on the moon 1969.
Beatle Nut - Introduced at the height of Beatlemania in 1964.
Plum Nuts (plums, vanilla and walnuts)
ChaChaCha (cherry chocolate chip)
Jamoca Almond Fudge (my favorite)

Baskin- Robbins is also a Los Angeles thing…the first store opened in Glendale! So pay your respects and go get some 31 flavors! Their new Reeses Peanut Butter Shakes are off the hook as well…literally a meal!

I so wish there could be a Whateves 31 Flavors Challange…
eat a new flavor ever day for a month and be deliciously happy!
