Dish Network Drops VOOM HD channels, which were some of their best!

Omygod omygod omygod. After a year of looking for the perfect flat screen tv, then waiting another 5 weeks to decide whether to stay with Dish Network or try Direct TV HD, I come to learn that some of my favorite HD channels on DISH Network are now GONE GONE GONE! The horror! No longer can you watch cheezy awesome Kung Fu Movies from the 60’s to 80’s all day long. No longer can you watch awesomely bad horror movies in HD on Monsters HD. No more HDAlt channel which showed random shit all day long like crazy screen savers that would make you drool if you were dropping acid. ALL IN HD!

Instead Dish Network has replaced those 15 VOOM HD channels with THESE winners:

ABC Family HD: Yeah no.
Biography HD: I wanna see documentary’s on old dead dudes in HD??!?!?!
Comcast Sports Network Bay Area HD: I’m gay, and I live in Los Angeles. I don’t care about San Francisco sports
Comcast Sports Network New England HD: Again, the gay part and the LA thing.
CNBC HD: I have stocks, I don’t need to see what they look like in HD damnit!
Disney HD East: What so I can look at Hannah Montana’s pre-pubsecent vomit fest in HD?!
ESPNews HD: Again, gay here! I don’t care what’s on ESPN, unless its Naked volleyball or Naked anything in HD!
Hallmark Movie Channel HD: Watch movies about fat women being beaten by their drunken husbands? Oh wait that would be Lifetime, which is NOT offered in HD.
Weather Channel HD: Its the fucking weather channel! Why the shit do I care whether the 5 day forecast is in HD??!

World Fishing Network HD: Are you fucking kidding me?!
I haven’t been this upset about tv in a long time, which is probably why I didn’t watch that much tv. Anybody want a plasma tv now?! Not that it will make a difference, but I’ve been told to call and complain, and get lots of others who liked those channels to complain as well. So here’s the number to complain!!

I agree! I joined dishnetwork solely for Voom. I am giving them two months and will continue to voice my displeasure; if they do not bring back Voom I am going to directv. Voom has the best HD both in programming content and unique shows with NO commercials at all! and for clarity, their channels are the sharpest on the market bar none!

I looked at their new channels and agree whom cares about the weather or cartoons in HD? not me, I want Voom. Directv is way cheaper so if they do not listen and bring back Voom I suggest that all dishnetwork users go elsewhere!

 When I got my new HD receiver I was ecstatic seeing the Monster HD channel and the GamePlay HD channel. Some of the other channels had charm, but I’m really pissed to see those two channels gone. I’m glad about Sci-Fi HD and Toon HD, but couldn’t they have brought the new HD channels in without getting rid of the Voom Network HD channels.

It was great having channels that had no commercials to them. That really appealed to me. I’m glad I’m not the only person dissapointed with the cancellation of the Voom Network. I hope there is a petition out there we can sign to get Dish Network to bring Voom back.

I was so close to becomming a dish network customer as I have been watching Voom HD at my brothers house now that they removed Voom HD I would never consider them now or in future! They only have 80 HD as they removed the 15 Voom HD and they claim 22 new, which brings them to 80 HD. Directv has 90 at a lower price. Dish’s new HD is not clear as many are upconverted content and not true HD. Also many are channels most would never watch like the cartoon channel, weather channel, etc. I was going to switch purely for the Voom HD which has 15 no commercial channels with original shows that you can not find anywhere else!

Dish you made a dumb move that will cost you both existing customers and prospective customers.

Angry old man has come out of me and he’s pissed. I’ve called Dish Network probably 4x’s and have been able to get $10 off my bill for the next year. But i’m still pissed. Seriously. I’ll give it another week and if I’m still this angry I am cancelling and believe me, I’ll get out of my 2 year contract bullshit. (John I am sure you are loving this.)

I’m convinced the only reason they lost the VOOM channels was so they could take that bandwidth and put it towards 22 shitty channels that show non stop commercais and they’ll get money or cash from those companies. Corporations fucking suck.

Oh and PLEASE SOMEBODY, POOP IN YOUR DISH NETWORK DISH and SEND IT TO WHATEVES!

TV companies are lame. We use Charter in Long Beach the other month our bill almost doubled. I called and they said “our promotion ran out”. I told them to enroll me in another promotion and they said they don’t have any currently running. So I switched off a bunch of channels just to lower my bill.

I’m looking in to getting FIOS (fiber-optic) service from Verizon. I quickly checked and they don’t offer the channel your looking for (VOOM), I have actually never heard of it but it sounds rad.

You can tell that who ever made the decision to make the switch the line up never really understood the demographic of the users:
    - 2 sports channels, one from San Francisco (LA Dodgers fans must be pissed) and the other from New England? We have so many good teams in LA why would an LA fan watch a rival city?

    - Weather channel, we live in Southern California… now you can see 78 and sunny in HD?,

    - World Fishing Network, this should be reserved for the Midwest. I can’t remember the last time I went fishing in LA.

The rest are just silly. If I had a dish I would poop in it for you… I think my neighbor does, maybe I can get on their roof and snap a shot.

Dude, I want to wipe poop up the nose of Time Warner Cable I don’t suggest switching to cable in LA, they rape your mothers skull at any change they can take. Plus, their DVR’s are bullshitty.

I loved the 15 channels of commercial free true HD that Voom HD provided. I will keep complaining and if no change will cancel!!!!!!!

people considering dish should be very careful as you can get better pricing at directv and cable companies; also most of dish’s HD is up converted and not true HD at all! dish is deceptive as they removed 15 great true HD channels which they fail to ever say; they instead try to imply they added 22 new channels when in reality most were already in SD and since they are up converted content are not much better in HD. The truth is they added 7 channels with many weak channels like the weather channel and cartoons on HD.

As a likely former dish customer I would not recommend them to anyone!

Its about quality not quantity! They market a lot of BS like right now they say they are the leaders in HD and have added 22 new channels? Reality the dropped 15 of the best HD channels on the market, namely Voom HD. What did they replace? well 7 new channels with real winners like the cartoon network and the weather channel. The others are already in SD and not very good channels plus most of the entire 22 are up converted weak and nowhere near VOOM HD quality!

They can add more and more crap and without quality like VOOM HD channels there is no reason to stay with dish as Directv is better and cheaper! Right now Directv has 90 HD and dish 80 at a lot more. I checked my price and I would save over 40% with directv! Why give money to a company that treats is HD customers like crap by dropping VOOM HD and cleary not asking us! We HD VOOM users pay the most per month and what they shape their weak programming around people whom spent 29-39 bucks a month? I pay about $130 a month!

    Drop dish!

I am dropping DISH! VOOM was the only thing that made having dish worth it. They are so gone. I can’t believe they did this! Equator HD was the best! I loved Kung Fu and Monsters HD also. I am so fucking pissed!! I gotta have VOOM.

:grin:Yesterday I canceled my account with the Dish Network. I gave my reason as “You dropped the VOOM channels. The CSR said, “but we replaced them with other HD channels.” I said, “They SUCK!” she said, I will have to transfer you to an accounts specialist”after profuse apologies. After 20 min of waiting I finally got one. To make a long story short, she said, “You are breaking your contract.” I said,You broke YOUR contract with me.” You turned off the only good thing about your network.” Fortunately she agree with me and waived the penalty fees. If they bring back VOOM, I go back, The Dish Network, without VOOM, has nothing going for it. They are losing people in droves.

I hope Voom wins the lawsuit! especially when dish clearly manipulates the truth. They claim to be the leaders in HD, they claim to have added 22 new HD bringing their total to 80 HD. That is all false marketing hype twisting the truth. Here is the truth they only have about 40 HD as many channels are duplicated on 2-4 channels. There are only 7 new channels as they fail to mention they removed the 15 Voom HD. Most of their HD lineup is up converted and not true HD. Their picture quality has gone down. Here are a couple examples of the new channels, the weather channel and the cartoon network; come on dish whom even cares about those and there is no real difference in seeing those in HD? I’m going to cancel dish next month!

Filed a complaint with Dish about the loss of Voom channels. Boy was that a Joke!! They have me for 11 months more on contract. If I knew they were going to get rid of Voom I would not of gotten Dish. Not worth it!! Will be checking with Directv or cable. What set Dish apart from any other programming service was Voom, without Voom they are pretty much like all the rest.

Happy to hear there are so many like me. I was so mad when they dropped voom I called dish and ask how much I owed to get out of my contract. they told me that no one was wacthing the voom channels. I knew that was bull. they gave me the hd package for 10 bucks but its so lame I barely watch it. Icalled them again today and asked them when they were going to have all these wonderfull channels up and running and pressed them on there quallity. from what he said Ithink all 100 channels will suck.

HD over cable or dish sucks. They cut the signal down and make you think your getting full HD but you’re not. I need a Blu -ray player.
