Jena Malone and her shoe
I am not one to usually go for the celebrity turned musician deal but THE SHOE has won my heart. The duo consists of Malone playing her musical invention “the shoe,†which she describes as a “one woman instrument…built out of an old steamer truck” and pianist Lem Jay Ignacio. Malone sings and often freestyles lyrics in a delicate voice reminiscent of Joanna Newsom with a twist of Coco Rosie. I was entranced by the strange little performance…it made me think of things like unicorns and cotton candy.
