“I’m a rhythm fanatic, I create rhythms that’d drive you nuts.” - Bo Diddley
Known for his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat Bo Diddley died of a heart attack today in Florida where old people go to die.
Famous for his signature rhythm … Bomp Ba-Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp … immortalized in his song “Bo Diddley,” Diddley lead the way in the transition from blues to rock and roll by introducing insistent, driving rhythms and and a hard-edged guitar sound. He was also a master of bolstering his own self-invented legend.
In 1955 he appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and infuriated Ed … “Ed Sullivan said that I was one of the first colored boys to ever double-cross him. Said that I wouldn’t last six months”. Bo Diddley was asked to sing “Sixteen Tons” but instead he sang “Bo Diddley.” He was banned from further appearances.
See Bo and his band in action back in the day!

“I thank you in advance for the great round of applause I’m about to get.”
