I hate the Red Hot Chili Peppers more than words can express

Here’s an article about it:

Busy P, the main man at Ed Banger records, has ‘let slip’ in an interview with datatransmission.co.uk that Justice are set to produce the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album.

There’s yet to be any word from the Chili’s camp as to whether or not this is true (the band are supposed to be on a year-long hiatus, presumably to allow John Frusciante to record & release 50 to 100 solo albums), but we do know that Anthony Kiedis is a long time Justice fan. Just this month he was pictured at an LA Lakers game sporting a Justice shirt, so chances of this story’s validity are good.

I’m a fan of the Chili’s recent output, and would love to see what Justice would bring to the table. Can you imagine Flea’s playing with that trademark Justice fat bass sound? Wow.

Not being one to pass up an opportunity to post some Justice tracks, here’s what it would have sounded like if Justice had produced the music for Star Wars:

I hate hate hate the red hot chili peppers. nothing can get me to change the radio dial quicker. they write the same song over and over again and anthony’s boobs bounce up and down in the ‘under the bridge’ song. i would put ‘under the bridge’ in my list of ‘the top 10 most horrible songs ever’ … the red hot chili peppers used to by funky around 1987 but something happened. maybe they sold their mojo to the devil for the ‘under the bridge’ hit but they were cheated by the devil for sure. justice have officially jumped the shark by working with the rhcp’s…obviously the money is good. for shame.

Anthony Kedis was jogging in slow motion towards me in many a dream. He fulfills my Native American fantasy in ways that the character ‘wind in his hair’ from dances with wolves never could - and Anthony Kedis isn’t even a Native American. I am no longer a fan of his looks, that was many years ago.

I put them in the same rocket with sublime, shoot there music into space. I wouldn’t wish death on any of them, just a retirement.

Ahh, you have to give the Chili’s a chance. They’re bringing the funk to pop music! And Frusciante is a god. Trust me, check out his (vast) solo material.

But using my own words in an anti-Chili Pepper article?

    Harsh…. :)

Phil is a liar. Plus, I saw him last weekend in HB rocking out to Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime.

I’m a fan of both artists, but I have to take sides with the Chili Peppers. First off, the Chili Peppers have been around years before I was even born, therefore have enough talent and experience to compose their own sound and style, which I find amazing and inspiring. I think the verses in both songs are similar, but not nearly identical, and certainly nothing worth getting worked up over. Tom Petty’s beats and chords are so simple, it’s almost impossible to avoid the similarity with another song.

Here’s my issue with the Peppers: I grew up with them and really enjoyed them UNTIL “One Hot Minute”. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is a seminal album, but it was also grossly overplayed, and I also can’t hear anything off that album anymore. Everything since then, it seems, has been a re-hashing of that same formula, and people are buying their discs to recapture the memories they had while listening to Freaky Styley and getting chased by the cops for skating behind the local supermarket.

I was dragged to see them for the Stadium Arcadium tour in San Diego last fall and that sealed my dislike for them. They’ve been together for 20+ years and can’t deviate from the exact same set list each night? Every move was rehearsed, choreographed and static. It was like seeing old RHCP robots up there. No recognition of the audience, no impromptu jams, no fun. It was like “come see us, buy a shirt, applaud, go home” If I want that I will take the girls to see Disney on Ice. At least then I know that its going to be the same thing over and over, and I can just relax in my seat with a soft pretzel and a sno cone.

Yeh, i agree the Stadium Arcadium tour was disappointing. I think the album was great, just simple polished pop-rock, and was dying to check it out. So i forked out 200 euros to see them at a festival, and was treated to the same set I’d seen on the last tour, plus the new singles… and that was pretty much it. Are they contractually obliged to finish with an encore of under the bridge and give it away? Bloody hell… Damn shame, cause it pretty much means that the vast majority of the Stadium Arcadium songs will never be played live. But I will say that even playing the same old songs, John Frusciante still looks like he’s playing a stormer every time.
