Madex Movie Review: X-Files: I Want To Believe….It Never Happened.

Fuck, how did this happen?
I don’t know where to begin. I’ll start by saying something nice.
Gillian Anderson is a great actress, she looks incredible and her time and talent were wasted on this made for TV hack piece of shit film.
They failed to encapsulate the essence of the X-files. They failed to reintroduce a new generation to the X-files. They failed to make an interesting story. They even failed at making frankenstein cool.
This dusty script that never made it in their primetime show should have never been made, its like a bad episode that you’d never remember.
I’m all for stand alone stories, but at least make them worth the 15 dollar ticket price.
Chris Carter you really pissed away your baby, sent it down the river for dead.
Close the X-Files for good.
-5 Madex out of 5.
Never see it, and pretend it never came out.
Rent and watch the TV pilot if you want to get excited for the X-files.
Oh, casting agents, who the fuck thought rapper Xibit could act as an FBI agent?
Beard, really? You liked it? Feel free to to explain why.

yea, i walked into this movie with a raging huge boner and was totally let down. so depressed over it. needless to say, me and boner aren’t talking anymore.
This movie X files needs an eXterminator, you don’t even get to see david duchovny butt.
I specifically said to Kim Sperka as we left the theater “I seem to always have the exact opposite reaction to the whateves crowd, it’s as though one of us is being contrary on purpose. I bet you anything that Whitton is going to say that he hated this, but I can’t imagine how that could happen” I was really sure you were going to love this as well.
I felt, from the first 30 seconds that this entirely DID encapsulate the feeling of the series. The story was a little hokey, but do you remember that series? A lot of it was hokey. This was about dropping you back into the lives of Mulder and Skully and seeing where their relationship is at, and I thought that this was done perfectly. I felt that the framing of the shots, and even the chase scenes brought me right back to sitting in YOUR living room however many years ago, wondering what was going to happen next.
I loved that even after a serious relationship develops between the two that as soon as they are placed back in the situation of being a team, they find themselves taking up their old roles of being at odds with each other. I really can’t say enough good things about the relationship between Fox and Dana.
I thought the character of the Psychic was well balanced so that you never really knew whether or not to believe him.
I agree that this fails to bring the series to a new generation, but I don’t think that was the goal of it at all. There is no plan (at least as far as I have heard) of reviving the show, and Chris Carter said in an NPR interview that he just wanted to explore the relationship between the two. One thing Carter said was that he wanted to make a horror/monster flick, and I just didn’t get that at all from the film. I felt like it was more of a Scilence of the Lambs type thriller.
To tell the truth my only gripe about the film is that it needlessly brought Moulders sister vaguely into the story, and then dropped it without following up. They could have cut out 7 seconds of dialogue over 2 hours and tightened things up a bit.
So yeah, totally loved it. Not in a way that I want to watch it over and over, but damn it was fun to be seeing it in the theater last night.
ZPED5F hi! hice site!
While beard and I have a gentleman’s disagreement about this film, I will say, I still spent 5 mins of my life trying to find online what I missed in theaters, so its still on my mind. After the credits there is some Extra footage. This footage is the nail in the coffin for the series, characters and franchise. Its a spoiler that is truly a disconnect from the film so its not even really a spoiler. Its just another let down. Check it out. To escape the darkness you must paddle to an island. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR0bU5C88-A
Seriously?
Someone call Gillian Anderson and give her a job quick, her talents are endless.
