Hip Hop Nash

Posted by patBenatard in music on January 6th, 2010 @ 6:02 pm

Teddy was showing me some shit on his blog, www.theodoreteddyted.blogspot.com. His latest “blog” entry was one of Hip Hops biggest – Jay-z – his new video which is pretty cool and the songs not bad either for mainstream rap. Then there was Mos Def and Kweli’s latest video, History, which brought us to remembering when A Tribe Called Quest’s – Q-tip and Phife Dawg had the same Hip Hop vibe back in the 90’s. Some know Phife as Q-tip’s underrated shadow, kind of like Kweli to Mos. Phife now has a dope single called Flawless, take that hatAs! I can’t say much for Q-tip when he jumped the shark with The Chemical Brothers’s-z-z – Galvanize, but it’s a good thing Phife is keepin’ it real like Kweli in the video History.

If I was I made music videos ever, this would be one I’d be happy to say I made. Not sure if this band has uncovered anything as good as Talking Heads here song-wise, but whatever, the video is rad. Watch, you’ll see for your own self.

I have been waiting for Phoenix’s new record “Wolfgang Amadeus” to come out for a while. I heard the single “1901” a few months back and have been counting the days till the release ever since.

I was so stoked when my iTunes alert emailed letting me know its ready for download. This record is great, its mellow and dancy (not sure if that is a word) at the same time… and maybe that is not the best analogy.

Here is a link to the song 1901 check it out then buy the record.

I also found an unpluged version of the song Lisztomania. Along with some videos of them on SNL. Check it out after the jump. Enjoy!

Remember when Disneyland had Captain Eo?

I remember having a Disneyland pass and going on this ride just to get out of the hot California sun. If you went to Disneyland in the mid 80’s then you will be walking down memory lane with the next two videos.
