The new fast and furious film is coming out soon.
The love of LA gets represented once again, not only in the movie but in the ads and movie experiences.
Mr. Cartoon x Revok x Tommer did a billboard for the film here off Sunset.
Also, for those of us who live in LA, we get to see the film with the new D-Box chairs. D-Box is described as,“an unmatched realistic, immersive experience”
Which means it rumbles the shit out of you as you watch the high paced film.

I’m a huge fan of film theater gimmicks and can’t wait to check it out. Only at Mann Chinese 6 this April 3rd in HOLLYWOOD. Who wants to go with me?
This was the scene outside my office window. A dude went crazy and started fighting a wall, then he took down a cop, then was beat with a baton, then shot with a taser gun… two times! He finally went down. 20 cop cars and a fire truck showed up!
As my friend Robby said after I sent him the photos “city livin“.
I saw this video tour and it reminded me of the many reasons why I Dig LA. Histo-tainer Charles Phoenix does a rockin’ Disneyland Tour of Downtown Los Angeles. Makes me wanna explore the downtown area even more. Now I’ve been to pretty much everything and everplace he shows on this tour but it makes me wanna go and explore them again. Charles thinks that LA’s downtown is the most misunderstood downtown in the entire world!
On his tour Charles compares every part of the tour to the various aspects, sections and spirit of Disneyland. What could be better!

photo not by me... but it is from last night.
Dear Mother Nature,
Thank you for the awesome light show last night. The lightning storms off the shore of Santa Monica were some of the more amazing things I’ve ever seen in the sky. We’re talking giant bolts of blue and white lightning forking across the midnight sky. To top it off, each burst of electricity was far from infrequent. Every three to five seconds there were several huge bolts lighting up the clouds from different angles. Having lived in Vancouver, Portland, Detroit and the Caribbean, I’ve been through a fair share of lightning storms… but I think this one was the best one I’ve ever seen. And I’ve definitely never witnessed anything like it in Los Angeles after 14 years of living here. It was like a cross between Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and a totally rad Iron Maiden album cover. The best part was there was no rain and barely any thunder so I was able to sit on the grass outside my work in Santa Monica and have a chat with a friend while the light show went on over our heads. If this is an effect of global warming, maybe I should start driving more.
Did anyone else catch the lightning show last night?
UPDATE: Just found some more photos of the storm. You can really see what I mean where there were two or three bolts going off at the same time. Check out the original set on Flickr but here are my favorites:

If you live in Los Angeles then you felt the big one 5.8 earthquake that happened today. This was the biggest earthquake in 14 years and reminded me of the 1989 quake that sent gallons of water splashing out of my pool and onto our deck (this was the earthquake that rocked San Francisco). The building I work in has rollers underneight so it was swaying back for forth for about 30-45 seconds.
Thinking of moving to Los Angeles? Check out the videos below before you make up your mind… who said Angelenos are not tuff?
Judge Judy Taping
PS… when I got home I updated our house earthquake kit.
More after the jump.
For those of you who are not Huell Howser superfans… you must know that it has come to public knowledge that he is allegedly working for THE MAN. This can certainly not be true because everyone knows that Huell would never take bribe money from BIG CORPORATE money bags such as the California Revelopment Association. I think that we should start a defense fund… do you know much he has to pay Louie for his Emmy worthy camera work?
You be judge and watch Huell’s 14 part series on revelopment in California, sponsored by the California Revelopment Association, an organization dedicated to removal of shiftless squatters throughout our Golden, Man Bear State of California. If Wally George were alive today, he would kick those anti progress Commies right out of this God Loving state and send them to some hippie fag place like San Francisco.
According to a CRA statement, “The series presents an opportunity for us to tell the redevelopment story in a compelling and intimate way. Huell and his crew will be visiting redevelopment projects in cities and counties throughout California that demonstrate inspiring, positive elements of redevelopment efforts.”
And if anyone can tell me what time the fire falls in Yosemite, I am dying to know.

Whiskey bottles in mom truck’s bed. Margaritas at the beer garden. Bumps bumping a dude that looked like Brian Setzer. Seeing the most amazing painting of wolf on back of jacket of old dude abducting a boy. Photos of WCKevin and various animal anuses. Smells a plenty. Asking people in line for the Mighty Mighty Bossatones if they were in line for the Pig Races. Yelling expletives at the pigs in pig races and super gay southern young MC ringmastering the races. Feeling sorry for the pigs  named after foods they may someday become. Running in to Tyler from Classix. Riding “Dirty Tarpâ€. DIRTY TARP RIDE! Sliding down Euroslide.com. Searching for Art Pavillion. Ended up in “cause pavilion.” Getting information of square dancing lessons. Photos in various stick your head through the hole photo ops. Bumps stuck in a fireman uniform. Brick of curly fries from Juicy’s with bubbling ranch.  Gutter-punks stealing some fried then touching rest of them. Eating them anyway. YUM. Chocolate dog on a stick really fried tootsie roll. Carnival of products where WC Kevin became the guinea pig for hair removal system. Lady telling Bumps her hand looked old. Planning where we would work if we joined the carnival: Me – Airbrushing things, Bumps – selling hot tubs, WC Kevin – on a ride (DIRTY TARP) where he could scare children. Kitten’s on T-shirts and visors. Obese Young Adult Female dressed like a 4 year old. And finally finding the art pavilion:

We are in our last few hours of freedom while driving in Los Angeles. Starting tomorrow if you don’t have your “hands free” device while driving and on the phone L.A.P.D. will give you a ticket.
I’m still using my ear piece that came with my iPhone, so I’m covered… but the rest of you had 22 months to prepare! I did go to the apple store and pick up a bluetooth ear piece for my wife… they only had one left in stock!
Don’t be the first one to get caught with out one!

Last night Los Angeles Galaxy hosted the Kansas City Wizards at the HDC. The Wizards were first to hit the sore board late in the fist half with a really great strike by Claudio Lopez (40′). But it was the Galaxy who replied with 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd half.
Landon (Landy Cakes) Donovan was awarded a penalty kick and tallied his 9th goal of the season (54’). Then Edson Buddle followed with his 4th in the 74’ and finally David Beckham scored his 4th of the season with a 60ish yard goal in injury time (kicked from over half of the field)! It was an empty net but what a way to end a game.
The Wizards came close to tying the game but a sliding save from Klien kept the Galaxy’s momentum going an allowed them to win and keep sole position of 1st place.

San Pedro is and neighboring city of my beloved Long Beach. We share the busiest port in the country: Los Angeles Harbor. The town has grown from being dominated by the fishing industry to become primarily a working class town. I recently explored this city for the first time and what I found was cool!
Read more about this jewel along the harbor after the jump.

Last night was a great turn out for RAD. Bike kids came in from all over, one dude road up from Anaheim on his bike.
People carpooled and layed out in the back of trucks and seemed to have a blast.
The sad part was our favorite Taco cart was missing last night, The taco stands are going to be missed in Los Angeles.

The Freeway Ride I on Channel 4 News from richie thomassen on Vimeo.
I love riding my bike but this is a little to dangerous for me. Riding my bike on the freeway… this is insane! NBC picked up on it and aired it on Mother’s Day.
Also don’t forget this week is Ride Your ride a bike to work for the week.

Thursday is Bike Instead of Work Day. cyclists will ride from the Hollywood/Western Metro Station to City Hall to USC. There will also be pit stops to pick up free gear around Los Angeles County.
If you like night rides then you can also participate in the Whateves Thursday night bike ride… “Whereeves Tonight“.
Now you have no excuses.
