“The Pee-wee Herman Show,” starring Paul Reubens, will have a limited engagement run from Nov. 19 to 29 at the Music Box @ Fonda in Hollywood.

“I’ve put part of him away for a long time but part of him has always been here with me,” the soft-spoken actor said in an interview today. “I think it will be like riding a bike — which is not a bad analogy for Pee-wee, by the way.”

The Big Parade – A Long Walk In LA

Posted by K in Loving LA, to do on July 16th, 2009 @ 2:23 pm

Perhapse inspired by MadEx’s foot trek to the Beverly Center, this weekend (July 17th/18th) a group of people are hosting a two-day urban hike through Los Angeles called The Big Parade.  From Angel’s Flight stairway to the Hollywood Sign, the walk covers 40 miles, 135 flights of stairs, an over-night campout at the famous Music Box stairs and dozens of Los Angeles landmarks — some well-known and many hardly-known.

The best part is it’s COMPLETELY FREE!  The second best part is you don’t have to do all 40 miles if you don’t want to. The walk is broken into specific segments so that walkers of all ages and levels of fitness can join at specific times.

Schedules and routes are available on the website.  RSVP is required for the campout portion (only available to two-day participants).  If you know me, you know that I prefer to get around by bicycle but this just sounds like a great way to experience our beloved LA so check it out.  I’m going to try to get out of working this weekend so I can do both days.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that somehow they have a marching band involved too so if all that doesn’t spark your interest then I suggest you move to Florida.

Party Down

Funny show that I stumbled upon called, Party Down. Thing is funny. Rob Thomas, creator of Veronica Mars, is behind it along with Paul Rudd and a few others. Follow a crew of has-been/never-been/wannabe actors who make up a catering company from event to event. Plus, Jane Lynch is in it. C’mon.

It airs on Starz, but you can watch it on Netflix Instant Play (awesome). There are 8 episodes already available so far. Just in case you get into it.

A friend sent me an AIM message today with a link to Evan B Harris’s art. I was really blown away by it. I’m a total sucker for anything nautical. He has simple clean lines that lend themselves well to llustrations and paintings. I want to add one of his works to my house, really badly.

He has an art show coming up this December at the Cerasoli-LeBasse Gallery in Culver City. I think the show will consist of more new works vs old seeing that everything I found of his is sold out.

Mark your calendars b/c I think this is going to be a really great show.

stop wearing giant eyeglasses

Posted by sladehayes in Idiocracy, rant, to do, whateves on September 9th, 2008 @ 8:37 am

too big.

Look… I don’t wear my glasses all the time. I have a pair, yes. They’re small, unobtrusive, they just do their job and get out of the way. Other people out there pump it up a bit. They get a few pairs, make a fashion statement, keep it middle of the road (i.e. bumps). These are a little larger than the normal pair that I rock from time to time, and these folks are usually the fashion forward crew. Then there’s the crew that have BIG sunglasses, which are fun, and fashionable, a staple of any collection. continue reading this story —>

Don’t miss your chance to see one of the greatest songwriters of our time. Ok, that was a generic compliment, but let me know if you are interested in either of these two shows because Carole only attends shows that allow her to sit down. This just in…Sublime Sucks.

The Freeway Ride I on Channel 4 News from richie thomassen on Vimeo.

I love riding my bike but this is a little to dangerous for me. Riding my bike on the freeway… this is insane! NBC picked up on it and aired it on Mother’s Day.

Also don’t forget this week is Ride Your ride a bike to work for the week.

I spent last weekend re-enacting a 19th century land survey camp in Old Town San Diego, and this weekend I will be camping out at Calico Mining Days Festival at Calico Ghost Town. There will be a dance, a steak cookoff, a bbq cookoff, a parad, a greased pole climbing contest and a beard and moustache competition.

My campsite holds 6, and I am going solo. So if you want to come and LARP with me, call me.

This image is not apart of the current show “hello again”

Amanda Visell will be apart of a 3 artist group show at Capro Nason Gallery April 7 8:00-11:30pm (gallery 1&3). I have never had a bad time at her shows and I’m yet to find a painting I dont love. My wife and I are big fans of Mary Blair and I can see her style brought out in Amanda’s work. I have only see two preview’s of her work for the show both are new and amazing. I think this show will be all new work.

Also in this show is Keith Weesner, “Brush with Speed” in gallery 2 and Dave Burke, “Old Skool” in gallery 1

The Amgen Tour of California February 25, 2007

Long Beach plays host to The Amgen Tour of California this weekend (this would explain the bike art around Ocean Blvd). The Event will have over 120 of the worlds top cyclist, many of them compete in the Tour de France. We are the last leg of the 650 mile tour through California. Other host cities include San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, San Jose, San Luis Obisbo, Santa Barbara and Santa Clarita. Once in the LBC the cyclist will have a 7-10 lap circuit race through the scenic, ocean front streets of Long Beach with a winner crowed on Feb. 25th. Oh yeah also there will be some extreme BMX and skateboarding (Mt. Dew Code Red not included).
