Perhapse inspired by MadEx’s foot trek to the Beverly Center, this weekend (July 17th/18th) a group of people are hosting a two-day urban hike through Los Angeles called The Big Parade. From Angel’s Flight stairway to the Hollywood Sign, the walk covers 40 miles, 135 flights of stairs, an over-night campout at the famous Music Box stairs and dozens of Los Angeles landmarks — some well-known and many hardly-known.
The best part is it’s COMPLETELY FREE! The second best part is you don’t have to do all 40 miles if you don’t want to. The walk is broken into specific segments so that walkers of all ages and levels of fitness can join at specific times.
Schedules and routes are available on the website. RSVP is required for the campout portion (only available to two-day participants). If you know me, you know that I prefer to get around by bicycle but this just sounds like a great way to experience our beloved LA so check it out. I’m going to try to get out of working this weekend so I can do both days.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that somehow they have a marching band involved too so if all that doesn’t spark your interest then I suggest you move to Florida.
